A drone camera captured footage when two paddleboarders found themselves stalked by a great white shark off the California coast.

Kayla Ross said she and her paddleboarding partner went out to intentionally try to find the shark that had been spotted off the Santa Barbara coast.

Ross said she didn’t realize until returning to shore and reviewing footage captured by her uncle’s drone camera that the shark had actually found them.

“We paddled pretty far out… He said that he saw something and that we had to head back to shore right now. But I didn’t see it because I was just looking forward, paddling. So I didn’t know what he saw, how big it was, so we just went straight back. But that was a little nerve-racking,” Ross told KABC-TV.

Ross said the experience has not put her off paddleboarding and she is hoping to encounter an even larger shark in the future.

The encounter came about two months after foil surfers Tavis Boise and Ron Takeda found themselves pursued by a great white shark off Santa Barbara. Their encounter was also caught on camera.
