An animal protection officer in Texas came to the rescue of a beaver that had apparently been trapped inside a reservoir for several days.
Austin Animal Services said on social media that an officer responded to a water treatment facility in Austin where a beaver had been spotted swimming in the reservoir.
“When he arrived, it was clear the beaver was exhausted — there was only a small ledge to rest on, and it had likely been swimming for several days,” the post said.
The officer called for assistance from the Austin Fire Department’s Firehouse 14, and the firefighters were able to rig up a rope hoist to lift the beaver out of the water.
The beaver was transported to Austin Wildlife Rescue to “rest, recover and enjoy some well-earned snacks.”
