Emergency responders in Colorado were able to wrangle a pair of escaped horses that had been on the loose for at least a day in the Montrose area.
The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that Montrose Police Department officers and an animal control officer initially responded to a report of a pair of loose horses on Monday, but “couldn’t round up these four-legged escape artists.”
The elusive equines were spotted again Tuesday in the Townsend Aveue area, just north of San Juan, and the MPD requested assistance from the sheriff’s office.
The rescuers “successfully convinced the duo to enjoy a free trailer ride to the Montrose County Fairgrounds, where they are safe and comfortable while their humans are being located,” the post said.
Officials are now trying to determine where the horses came from so they can be returned home.
