A kangaroo escaped from the Waco Wildlife Rescue in Texas, marking the second marsupial break-out from the facility in under a year.
The Waco Police Department said reports came in about a kangaroo on the loose in the La Salle Avenue area Monday morning.
Officers were able to capture the marsupial on Robinson Drive after a brief pursuit.
Two kangaroos previously escaped from the Waco Wildlife Rescue on Sept. 2, 2025. Both animals were safely returned to the facility in the evening.
It was unclear whether Monday’s escapee was one of the kangaroos that fled in September.
“Well… the first time this happened we said it wasn’t our typical patrol day, but now it’s just become ‘roo-tine,'” police said in a Facebook post on Monday.
