Animal control deputies in Virginia responded to an unusual situation when they were called “to wrangle a renegade emu.”
The Powhatan Sheriff’s Office said on social media that animal control officers were dispatched Wednesday when the emu was spotted wandering loose.
Deputies used crime scene tape to create a “movable fence” to keep the emu contained.
The big bird, named Possum, was loaded into his owner’s trailer and transported home safely.
