An Oregon game store announced it is suspending Yu-Gi-Oh card game tournaments for one week due to complaints about the hygiene of attendees.

Chronos Games & Gifts in Beaverton posted an announcement on its Discord server confirming no Yu-Gi-Oh events would be held for one week.

“Attention @Yu-Gi-Oh, we regret to inform you that there will be a one week suspension on our local events. We have had issues with people mistreating the restrooms and multiple bad reviews because of poor hygiene. As a reminder, we encourage players to follow Konami guidelines and report anyone who does not,” the announcement reads.

Konami, the company behind the trading card game, issued official tournament guidelines for 2025 that address the subject of hygiene.

“Neglecting to wash or put on clean clothes contributes to an unpleasant atmosphere at the event,” the guidelines state. “Duelists who neglect self-care to the point that they are negatively impacting the tournament may be asked to correct the issue to continue in the event.”
