A North Carolina man who always uses his son’s birthday to play the Cash 5 lottery drawing ended up scoring a $341,844 jackpot.
Randleman resident Bryan McMasters told North Carolina Education Lottery officials the ticket he bought online for the April 23 drawing bore his usual set of numbers.
“I use my son’s birthday,” McMasters said.
He said he immediately recognized the numbers when he checked the results.
“It was surreal,” McMasters said. “I saw the numbers, and knew I won.”
The winner said his prize money will allow him to pay off some bills and take his son on a cruise.
“I can finally relax.” McMasters said.
