A South Carolina family’s pet parakeet, Spoodles, was officially named the oldest in the world at the age of 32 years and 86 days old.

Guinness World Records confirmed Charleston resident Amanda Beth’s bird is the oldest living parakeet.

“I always joke that he keeps not dying, so I keep feeding him,” Beth said.

Beth said Spoodles was 3 years old when her mother gifted him to her in 1997.

She said the parakeet isn’t as talkative as he used to be, but still greets each morning with a “pretty bird.”

“He certainly has a cute little personality,” she said. “His first owner sounds like she was a really nice lady based on what he says and how he acts.”

Parakeets typically live 15-20 years in captivity.
