Actress Catarina Scorsone will miss several episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as her character Amelia Shepherd goes on sabbatical.
TV Insider reported the news following Thursday’s episode of the show, titled “We Built This City.”
Amelia was having difficulty coping in the aftermath of an explosion set off by her patient’s mother.
She announced she would be taking a break after Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith and Kelly McCreary’s Maggie tried to intervene.
Scorsone, who joined the cast in Season 7, is slated to return sometime next year, according to Deadline.
Series regulars are guaranteed to star in 14 episodes of 18, and Scorsone will appear in 10 next year, the outlet continued.
