Netflix released the teaser trailer for its Man on Fire series on Tuesday. The series premieres April 30.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays John Creasy, a character played by Denzel Washington and Scott Glenn (as Christian Creasy) in two previous movies. Creasy is a renowned special forces mercenary now coping with PTSD.
In the films, Creasy was a bodyguard for a child who flew into the title rage when she was kidnapped. The teaser does not detail the specific plot, but shows Creasy in action in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and setting explosives in a prison.
The series is also based on A.J. Quinnell’s book. Kyle Killen adapted the book and showruns with Creed II and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Stephen Caple Jr. executive producing.
Billie Boulett, Alice Braga, Bobby Cannavale, Scott McNairy and Paul Ben-Victor also star. The season will be seven episodes.
