Hugo alum Asa Butterfield and Elementary actor Jonny Lee Miller have signed on to star in Hamburg Days, a BBC drama about The Beatles in 1960s Germany.

Butterfield will play the British rock ‘n’ roll band’s manager Brian Epstein, while Miller will play Jim McCartney, father of Paul (Ellis Murphy).

Louis McCartney, who earned a Tony nomination for his role in Broadway’s Stranger Things: The First Shadow, will play Ringo Starr and Christine Tremarco will play as John Lennon’s guardian Aunt Mimi.

They join previously announced cast members Rhys Mannion (John Lennon) and Harvey Brett (George Harrison).

“Hamburg Days is set in the early 1960s in the smoke-filled clubs of Hamburg’s St. Pauli red-light district, where an inexperienced young rock ‘n’ roll band from Liverpool collides with two young artists, Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr,” a synopsis said.

“Together they help spark a transformation that turns a scrappy group of teenagers into the greatest music phenomenon the world has ever known: The Beatles.”

The six-part series is currently filming in Hamburg.
