An Ohio woman scored a $5 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket a few years after her husband won $1 million from another game.
The Pickaway County woman told Ohio Lottery officials she initially thought the Ultimate $5,000,000 scratch-off ticket she bought from the Kroger store on Lancaster Pike in Circleville was a $20,000 winner.
The woman scanned her ticket and it appeared to actually be a $200,000 winner, but when she finished scratching it off at home she discovered she had scored the top prize of $200,000 per year for 25 years — a total $5 million.
The jackpot was especially surprising because her husband had won $1 million from a lottery game a few years earlier.
The winner said the money will allow her to retire. She said it will also fund an overnight stay in the Christmas Story House, a trip to Florida to swim with manatees and a return to college. She said she also plans to spoil her dogs and make investments.
