Wayward sheep caught after months on the loose in Wisconsin

A sheep on the loose for at least three months along Lake Michigan in Wisconsin has been captured and given a new home at a farm.

Merdith Biehl, who raises sheep at Sunnyview Farm in Germantown, said she and her daughter set about trying to find the sheep when sightings were reported in her area.

The sheep was one of two first spotted on the loose in November. The origins of the sheep remain a mystery.

Biehl said she and her daughter used one of their own sheep, a young lamb, to gain the trust of the runaway animal and lure her for capture.

Biehl said the sheep, now named Hilda Houdini, was given a shearing and will have a comfortable new home at Sunnyview Farm.

Biehl said the second sheep, Hilda’s former traveling companion, was found dead just a few days before the capture.
