Animal rescuers in Virginia came to the assistance of a fox that had become completely entangled in a net that was itself snagged on a fence.
Loudoun County Animal Services said on social media that officers responded to a call about a fox trapped in a net and arrived to find the fox was “completely entangled.”
“He had dragged the net into a fence line, which caused it to wrap even tighter around his body,” the post said.
“The officers were able to carefully remove the net from his legs on scene, but the material was tightly wrapped around his neck and required more delicate removal,” officials wrote.
“With the help of Kristi’s Caring Hands Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education the fox was safely transported to Blue Ridge Wildlife Center where he was sedated and the remaining netting was successfully removed.”
The fox was not seriously injured and was able to return to the wild.
