Two women broke three world records during the 66th annual Lumberjack World Championships in Wisconsin.
Czech competitor Karolina Urbanova broke a record Saturday during the Women’s Underhand Chop event at the championships in Hayward.
Urbanova cut through 11 inches of white pine in 21.28 seconds to win the event and break the record.
She broke a second record in the Woman’s Standing Chop, cutting through an 11-inch log in 19.38 seconds.
Meredith Ingbertson, a hometown competitor from Hayward, also broke a record Saturday in the Women’s Boom run event by sprinting across a boom floating over the water and back in 13.78 seconds.
The Lumberjack World Championships featured more than 100 competitors from nine countries and 16 states.
Canadian Stephanie Naud was crowned the overall champion in the women’s division for the second time. She took first in the Jack and Jill Cross-Saw, second in the Jill and Jill Cross-Saw and Women’s Underhand Chop, and fourth in the Women’s Standing Chop and Women’s Single Chop.
First-time competitor Brayden Meyer of Australia was named the overall men’s champion after taking first in Men’s Standing Chop, Springboard Chop, Men’s Single Buck, and Men’s Underhand Chop.
