Roads closed when bear spends hours in a New York tree

Multiple roads were closed Tuesday in Albany, N.Y., when a black bear climbed a tree and spent hours lounging on a branch.

The Albany Police Department said Second Avenue was closed between Hoffman Avenue and Frisbie Avenue, while Garden Street was closed at Raymo Street due to the bruin’s presence in the area.

The beat spent several hours on the branch until being shot with a tranquilizer dart and caught in a net held below the tree.

The roads were reopened and the bear was turned over to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.

Officials said the bear will be tagged and released in the Catskills.
