Firefighters in New York came to the rescue of an osprey found tangled in fishing line and dangling from a high branch in a tree.
The Port Washington Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched on the animal rescue call about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Firefighters used a lift truck to reach the bird, cut through the fishing line and bring the osprey safely down to the ground.
The osprey was turned over to a state-licensed wildlife rescuer for rehabilitation before being eventually returned to the wild.
