The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Ohio is asking members of the public to help name a critically endangered eastern black rhino calf born at the facility.
The zoo said the calf was born Sept. 13 to mother Kibibbi and is already taking wobbly steps around his indoor habitat.
The zoo is asking the public to vote on potential names for the calf on its website. The suggested names are Makena, which means “happy one;” Kenza, which means “treasure;” and Kamari, which translates to “like the moon.”
“In addition to providing exemplary care for rhinos here in Cleveland, the zoo is also committed to protecting them in the wild through its longtime support of wildlife conservation projects,” officials wrote. “Funds raised through the calf naming contest will go directly to this important conservation effort.”
Voting on the rhino’s name ends Oct. 15.
