A dedicated player of the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game saw his numbers come up the one time he failed to buy a ticket, so he resolved to be more vigilant — and scored $50,000.
The Germantown man told Maryland Lottery officials he is a devoted player of Bonus Match 5, and a few years ago he failed to buy a ticket for a single drawing and saw the numbers he would have selected come up.
He said the incident renewed his determination to win the drawing, and he finally hit it big with a ticket he bought for the Oct. 30 drawing at Kingsview Beer and Wine on Kingsview Village Avenue in Germantown.
The player, who also won a $400 prize from a Bonus Match 5 drawing earlier this year, said his prize money will go into an interest-bearing account in preparation for a planned 2028 trip to Italy with his wife.
