Police in New Jersey engaged in a hoof chase with a runaway horse that went trotting through a Monroe Township neighborhood.
The Monroe Township Police Department said on social media that the horse was spotted in the Hunter Woods neighborhood in Gloucester County on Friday.
A police officer attempted to chase the equine on foot, but instead “officially confirmed what science has suspected for years: He cannot outrun a horse,” the post said.
The horse, identified by the alias Seabiscuit to protect its privacy, was eventually cornered by police and returned to its owner.
“In all seriousness, we appreciate our officers efforts and those that assisted,” police wrote. “These types of calls are not entirely uncommon for us and we do our best to protect all of our animal friends that are a part of this community.”
