USA Network announced Thursday it has renewed The Rainmaker for a second season. The season finale aired Friday and Season 2 is planned for 2026.

Based on John Grisham’s novel, which was adapted as a movie in 1997, the series stars Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor, a law school graduate working for Bruiser (Lana Parrilla) and Deck (P.J. Byrne).

Their case against a hospital for wrongful death could be a rainmaker if they win. But, opposing counsel Leo Drummond (John Slattery) is a formidable opponent. Madison Iseman, Wade Briggs, Dan Fogler, Robyn Cara, Karen Bryson and Hugh Quarshie also star.

The series has departed from the book over 10 episodes. Bruiser was a man in the book and played by Mickey Rourke in the movie, which starred Matt Damon as Rudy and was directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
