FX has released a 2 1/2-minute-long trailer for its limited series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
The fact-based drama was executive produced by Ryan Murphy and is set to premiere Feb. 12 on FX and Hulu.
John F. Kennedy Jr. is played by Paul Anthony Kelly and Carolyn Bessette by Sarah Pidgeon.
“It was a love story that captured the attention of the nation: John F. Kennedy Jr. was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation,” a synopsis said.
“Bessette was a star in her own right. Fiercely independent and with a singular style, she rose from being a sales assistant to an executive at Calvin Klein, and became a trusted confidante of its eponymous founder. John and Carolyn’s connection was immediate, electric and undeniable. As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.”
The series’ cast also includes Grace Gummer, Naomi Watts, Alessandro Nivola and Constance Zimmer.
Kennedy, 38, married Bessette, 33, in 1996. The couple died, along with Carolyn’s older sister Lauren, in a plane crash off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., in 1999.
