Officials in a Florida city said it was a “beak-tacular day” when a police officer came to the rescue of a pelican found injured near a bar.
The City of Treasure Island said on social media that “Officer Baum heard the bird call (literally) and turned into a pelican whisperer near R-bar.”
The post included photos of Baum holding the big-beaked bird.
The pelican was turned over to the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary for treatment and rehabilitation.
“Just another ‘beak-tacular’ day in Treasure Island… but this one was definitely for the birds!” the post said.
