A Virginia woman bought a lottery ticket for the first time in her life and ended up winning a $50,000 prize.
Katelynne Berland of Yorktown told Virginia Lottery officials her mother asked her to pick up some lottery tickets from the 7-Eleven on Ottis Street in Yorktown. Advertisement
She said the errand inspired her to buy her own first-ever lottery ticket for the April 14 daytime Pick 5 drawing.
She matched all five numbers: 2-9-4-2-3.
Berland’s beginner’s luck earned her a $50,000 prize. She said she will use her winnings to help pay for her sister’s college tuition.
