Firefighters in New York responded to an intersection on an unusual rescue call involving a baby deer trapped in a storm drain.
Beacon Professional Firefighters IAFF L-3490 said on social media that crews responded to Ferry and Beekman Street on Saturday “not for a fire or medical emergency but to rescue a baby deer trapped in the storm drain.”
Photos from the scene show a firefighter climbing down a ladder into the storm drain to reach the small animal and bring it back to the surface.
Officials said the baby was reunited with its mother, who was seen waiting near the scene of the rescue.
