A public safety officer in California responded to an unusual call and ended up rescuing a family of baby quail from a storm drain.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said on social media that Officer Grey responded to Holly Avenue during the weekend on a report of several baby quail that had fallen into a storm drain.
“With a little patience — and help from some nearby homeowners — the tiny birds were safely rescued and reunited with their family,” the post said. “A big thank you to everyone who stopped to help. We appreciate neighbors who are willing to lend a hand when something unexpected happens.”
The department said none of the baby birds were injured and all were safely reunited with their mother.
