Animal rescuers and firefighters teamed up in California to rescue a dog stranded on rough mountainside terrain above rushing water.
The German shepherd was spotted on the Hesperia mountainside Monday by a hiker who contacted Animal Advocacy and Iron Paw Rescue.
The animal rescuers were able to make it across the water to reach the dog, but the rushing water became more forceful, leaving the canine and its rescuers stranded.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene about 11 p.m. and used a secure raft to ferry the dog and rescue team back to safety.
The rescue was chronicled in a series of videos posted to Instagram by @iloverescue.
It was unclear how the dog, dubbed River by rescuers, came to be stranded.
