A dog seen wandering for days in Pennsylvania with its head stuck in a large plastic jar has now been freed of the snack container and is being treated by a veterinarian.
Canine Rescue of Central Pennsylvania said on social media that volunteers were able to locate the canine around 3 a.m. Wednesday after she was spotted in a corn field by a Nighthawk Drone Services pilot.
The dog, now named Dallas in honor of drone pilot Dallas Fuhrman, had been wandering York County for days with a plastic snack jar stuck over her head. She was first spotted in the area on Monday.
“Dallas is suffering from severe dehydration, is infested with ticks, and is clearly in distress. She is now receiving the urgent care she needs, and we are awaiting bloodwork to better understand her full condition,” the rescue said on social media.
The group is now raising funds to help offset the cost of Dallas’ care.
“We’ll continue to share updates as she recovers. But for now, we celebrate a life saved and the power of people coming together for one dog who matters! Dallas is not available for adoption currently,” officials wrote.
