Disney+ and Lucasfilm released the trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord on Monday. The animated series premieres April 8 on the streaming service.
Set after Clone Wars animated series, Maul wants revenge on the Empire for trying to kill him. He forms an uneasy alliance with other rebels while Brander Lawson (voice of Oscar nominee Wagner Moura) hunts him.
The trailer shows Maul using his trademark double red lightsaber, introduced with him in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. John Williams’ “Duel of the Fates” score plays at the end of the trailer, the music the scored his fight with Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) in that film.
Sam Witwer voices Darth Maul, and Gideon Adlon voices Devon Izara. Star Wars series spearhead and now Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni created Shadow Lord.
Shadow Lord will air two episodes weekly, concluding with the finale on Star Wars Day, May 4.
