Animal rescuers in New York were summoned to a marsh where a coyote had wandered into the 4-foot-deep mud and become stuck.
The Strong Island Animal Rescue League said rescuer Frankie Floridia responded to a call for assistance from police in St. James, Long Island.
Floridia worked with personnel from the Sweetbriar Nature Center to come up with a rescue plan.
He ended up wading out into the 4-foot-deep mud and using a catch pole to ensnare the coyote, which was barely managing to keep its nose poking out from the surface.
A neighbor used a rope to help pull Floridia and the coyote back to dry land.
The coyote was taken to the Sweetbriar Nature Center for veterinary treatment.
