Connecticut Great Dane is world's tallest female dog

A Connecticut family’s Great Dane, named Minnie, is officially the tallest female dog in the world, standing at 3 feet and 2 inches from floor to withers.

Minnie arrived at the North Stonington home of owners Ken and Lisa Nogacek when she was just 2 months old, and quickly started to grow, reaching 35 pounds before her first birthday.

Minnie was about 2 1/2 years old when the Nogaceks’ daughter started to suspect she might qualify for a Guinness World Records title.

The owners decided to wait until Minnie was full grown, and they finally had her measured at the age of 3 1/2 years.

Ken Nogacek told Guinness World Records getting Minnie to hold still for the measuring was difficult, and he “had to bribe her with peanut butter, which is one of her favorite snacks.”

Minnie was measured at 3 feet and 2 inches tall, enough to take the title for the tallest dog living (female).

She is an inch taller than the previous record-holder, Florida dog Lizzy, who was measured in November 14. She is just slightly shorter than the tallest dog ever (female), a Canadian great dane named Morgan, who measured 3 feet and 2.6 inches tall.

Minnie is also one inch shorter than Reggie, the tallest living dog (male).
