A South Carolina woman said a sale on cat food led to her winning a $1 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket.
The Bluffton resident told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she made a trip to the Publix store in Bluffton to pick up some cat food on sale.
“I was really tired, but I needed to get the cat food before the buy one, get one sale ended,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She said she only had a few minutes before the store closed to pick out some lottery tickets.
“If someone would have been in line in front of me, I might not have been able to get the tickets,” she said.
She scratched her tickets off at home and discovered one of them, a Millionaire Bonus game, was a $1 million winner.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the winner said.
The woman said she plans to save her money.
“And I’m not telling anyone that I won,” she said.
