Bear evicted from California crawlspace may have found a new home

A bear that was finally evicted from underneath a California house after several months may have found a new home underneath another house nearby.

The bear, which had been visiting Ken Johnson’s Altadena home since at least April, was finally evicted from the crawlspace underneath the house last week thanks to the efforts of a Lake Tahoe-based nonprofit called BEAR League.

An electrified mat was placed at the entrance to Johnson’s crawlspace to prevent the bear from returning, but the bruin may have now found a new home underneath another Altadena house.

Residents of a house located about half a mile away from Johnson’s home shared photos showing a bear that has now moved into their crawlspace.

Officials do not yet know for sure whether the home’s new squatter is the same animal that was kicked out of Johnson’s crawlspace.
