A Michigan man used $20 in lottery winnings to buy a scratch-off ticket that earned him a $2 million top prize.

The 45-year-old Kent County man told Michigan Lottery officials he recently bought a $2 scratch-off ticket from Clyde Park Fuel in Grand Rapids.

“Every once in a while, I’ll buy a $2 ticket, but I typically don’t play the $20 games,” he said. “I stopped to get gas, so I grabbed a $2 Blackjack ticket while I was cashing out and scratched it while my gas was pumping.

“I won $20, so I went back inside to cash it. I debated using my winnings on two $10 tickets, but the $2,000,000 Bonus Scratch Multiplier ticket caught my eye, so that’s what I went with. I scratched the ticket when I got in my car and went into shock when I saw how much I’d won. I don’t think it’s going to fully hit me that I won $2 million until I cash the check!”

The winner said he will use his prize money to buy a house, take a vacation and save for the future.
