HBO has shared a final trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3.
The third season of the fantasy drama will premiere June 21 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
House of the Dragon is inspired by the George R.R. Martin book Fire & Blood and is a prequel to Game of Thrones, based on Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire book series.
The show focuses on the Dance of the Dragons, a war of succession that tore apart House Targaryen and the realm at large.
Friday’s trailer teases Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (Emma D’Arcy) return to King’s Landing, the home of the Iron Throne. Rhaenyra and her husband Daemon (Matt Smith) are seen walking the halls of the Red Keep as their followers tear down the green banners of King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) and his supporters.
Later, Aegon’s uncle Ormund Hightower (James Norton) talks about exposing Rhaenyra as “weak and unsuited to rule.”
Season 3 was previously confirmed to open with the Battle of the Gullet, an epic clash at sea between Rhaenyra’s Hand, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), and Aegon’s allies that is “the defining turning point” of the war.
Other returning cast members include Ewan Mitchell, Rhys Ifans, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel and Olivia Cooke.
