Pig captured after several days on the loose in Indianapolis park

An animal rescue group in Indiana announced it has successfully apprehended a pig that was on the loose for several days in a public park.

Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary in Brownsburg said the pig had been on the loose in Indianapolis’ Holliday Park for several days, and had managed to give rescuers the slip during multiple capture attempts.

The sanctuary said capture attempts, which included personnel from Indy Parks and Recreation and Indianapolis Animal Care Services, had been made more difficult by locals feeding and chasing the pig.

The 30-pound porker was finally captured by a team of rescuers who traveled to the park on Sunday.

“The pig at Holliday Park has been safely apprehended and is in our care,” the group posted on social media Sunday.

The sanctuary said the pig will be quarantined, vaccinated and neutered before the next steps for the animal are determined.

The pig’s origins and how it came to be running loose in the park remain a mystery.
