Animal rescuers in England rounded up a severely overweight raccoon spotted wandering through neighborhood gardens.
The RSPCA said locals in Gwennap, Cornwall, spotted the tremendous trash panda wandering through gardens in the area and were able to lure it into a greenhouse.
RSPCA Officer Abi Kemp responded to the scene and was able to take the raccoon to a local veterinary office, where it was examined and held overnight. The raccoon weighed in at 24.69 pounds — more than three times the average weight of a healthy adult of the species.
Raccoons are considered an invasive species in England and were banned outright in 2016. Anyone with a pet raccoon before that date was given permission to keep the animal, but they can no longer be bred, sold or rehomed in the country.
