A North Carolina man celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary with a $50 scratch-off lottery ticket that earned him a $100,000 prize.
Cherryville resident Jeffrey Douglas told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he was celebrating a special date when he bought his $10 Million Spectacular ticket from the Times Turn Around on East Main Street in Lincolnton.
“It was our 31st wedding anniversary on Sunday,” Douglas said.
He said his wife was the first person he told when he scratched off the $100,000 prize.
“I texted her a picture of the ticket and she said, ‘Call me,'” Douglas said.
He said winning big was the perfect anniversary gift.
“It was pretty awesome,” Douglas said. “It’s a blessing.”
Douglas said his prize money will go toward helping family and investing in his tree-cutting business.
