A Michigan man said his day took a nosedive when the Detroit Lions lost their playoff game, but quickly improved when he won a $500,000 lottery prize.
The Wayne County man told Michigan Lottery officials he bought his VIP Cashword scratch-off ticket from the Marathon gas station on Ryan Road in Warren. Advertisement
“I bought this VIP Cashword ticket on the day of the Lions’ playoff game,” he said. “Of course, everyone knows how the Lions game went but scanning the ticket and seeing I won $500,000 took some of the sting away!”
The winner said he already has some ideas for his prize money that should further improve his mood.
“It still doesn’t feel real that I won, but I am very excited to be able to help family and then tuck some money away for myself,” he said.
