A deer wandered into a closed theme park in Indiana and fell through a safety net into an approximately 15-foot-deep pool, prompting a response from authorities.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement said personnel responded to Holiday World in the town of Santa Claus when the deer’s predicament was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Crews from the Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department and Spencer County Sheriff’s Department responded to assist with the rescue.
The deer was sedated by a veterinarian from Animal Hospital Inc. in Huntingburg and carried out of the pool on a stretcher.
The deer was transported to another area of the park and released back into the wild.
