First responders in Michigan came to the rescue of a deer that wound up wedged in the 1-foot gap between concrete barriers on an Oakland County highway.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said a driver called Auburn Hills police about 2 p.m. Monday to report a deer had been struck by a vehicle and was now wedged in the narrow space between the concrete barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes.
Police requested assistance from the sheriff’s office’s search and rescue team, which used a technical truck and straps to lift the deer out of the gap.
“Their diligence, training and hard work paid off, enabling them to rescue the young deer and transfer it to a wildlife rehabilitation center,” the Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
The rescue lasted for about an hour, officials said.
