Firefighters in Winchester, England, said a cow “found out that the grass isn’t greener on the other side” when it attempted to cross a river and wound up stuck in deep mud.
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said in a news release that crews from Winchester, Eastleigh and Overton responded to call for a large animal rescue at River Park in Winchester.
“One cow found out that the grass isn’t greener on the other side, when it got stuck in the mud trying to cross the River Itchen on Tuesday morning,” the service said.
Nine firefighters ended up wading out into the river to help extract the approximately 1,322-pound cow from the mud.
The bovine was then lifted into a nearby field by a winch.
