Police in New York wrangled a loose alpaca that escaped from a trailer passing through Port Chester and treated itself to a self-guided tour of the area.
The Port Chester Police Department said on Facebook that the vehicle was traveling on Interstate 95/287 “when the rear gate of the trailer popped open and the alpaca decided to visit Port Chester.”
“Officers were able to keep it calm and safe until the owner arrived, and was able to corral the animal,” the post said.
Police shared a photo of the wayward alpaca, as well as a tongue-in-cheek design for the department’s specialized “Alpaca Unit.”
